With Saint Patrick’s Day around the corner, many of us are preparing for a weekend of fun and festivities with our closest friends and family. However, some may wish to skip the alcohol this year and try something a little different. What about a mind opening and refreshingly alcohol-free magic mushroom mocktail recipe?
On St. Patrick’s Day, there’s a noticeable increase in alcohol-related risks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration highlights the dangers associated with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, noting that more than a third (36%) of crash fatalities during the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day period involved a drunk driver. Between 2016 and 2020, 287 lives were lost in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s Day period.
With that in mind, we have created a delightful low-dose magic mushroom-infused and non-alcoholic St. Patrick’s Day punch. As with any shroom recipe or psychedelic substance, you should never drive or engage in risky behavior while under the effects of psilocybin. Instead of chancing the roads this year, try our magical mushroom mocktail, settle in with friends, and enjoy a mind-expanding experience.
Our refreshing mint and lime mocktail is best served cold and is reminiscent of a Mojito. We’ve also included some fresh ground ginger to help with stomach discomfort. Due to the presence of citric acid in the lime juice, this recipe can also have a similar effect as Lemon Tek, the use of citrus fruit juice to pre-digest psilocybin, speeding its conversion into psilocin (the psychoactive chemical that makes you trip). This may result in a faster, more intense, but shorter psychedelic experience.

Instructions:
- Make the Mushroom Simple Syrup:
a. Combine 1.5 cups of water with five grams of dried and crushed magic mushrooms in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for at least 20 minutes to extract all the psilocybin from the mushroom material (you may need to add extra liquid). Once done, add one cup of granulated sugar (or sugar replacement) and continue to simmer until fully dissolved.
b. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Once cool, remove the mushroom material and transfer the simple syrup into a clean container using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth (this option will give you a better result). This can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator. - Prepare the Mint Infusion:
a. In a large pitcher or bowl, muddle the mint leaves and ginger with the simple syrup to release their oils. If you don’t have a muddler, the back of a spoon or a pestle will work. - Add Lime Juice:
a. Squeeze the limes to make 2 cups of fresh lime juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp, then add it to the mint and shroom simple syrup mixture. - Combine and Chill:
a. Add the sparkling water or club soda to the pitcher. If you’re using green food coloring, add it now, one drop at a time, until you reach your desired color. Stir gently to combine. Refrigerate the mixture until it’s chilled, about 1-2 hours. - Serve:
a. Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the mint and lime mocktail over the ice, garnishing each glass with a lime slice and a mint sprig. - Enjoy:
a. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing taste of mint and lime with a psychedelic kick, perfect for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
This recipe is easily adjustable; you can add more or less simple syrup based on how sweet you like your drinks. Additionally, you can adjust the amount of mint for a stronger or more subtle mint flavor. If you choose to up the amount of psilocybin in the recipe, you can. However, be cautious. The citric acid can make your shrooms hit harder and faster. Uncareful dosing may lead to an adverse psychedelic experience (aka a bad trip). This psychedelic mocktail is a fantastic way to enjoy the festivities without alcohol, ensuring everyone can enjoy the fun without worrying about alcohol-related issues.
